Living as Blair Waldorf for a Day
Hey Upper East Siders, Lauren Norris here, and I have the biggest news ever... I'm starting a new series on my YouTube channel called "In the Life." In these videos, I will be vlogging a day in the life of a fictional character or celebrity! I thought there was no one better to start the series with than the queen of New York, Blair Waldorf. I wanted to share this series on the blog, so look out for future posts where I live like your favorite characters! After reading this blog post about my day in the city, check out my YouTube video to see even more of my day as Queen B!
Mornings in Manhattan
If there is one thing Blair prioritizes in her morning routine, it’s making it a slow and glamorous process. No matter if she was hanging out with Serena or going on a solo shopping spree, Blair always made sure to start her day luxuriously. To match her vibes, I decided to start my day off with pink silk pajamas, Chanel eye patches, and a cup of tea in the cutest Gossip Girl mug ever! I also made sure I was wearing a headband, even just lounging around, to truly capture Blair’s essence.
Before getting ready for the day, I continued having a slow morning by reading a copy of Vogue. We all know how much Blair loved fashion, and Vogue was basically her version of the Bible. I haven’t read a magazine in such a long time, but I might have to start reading them again because of how much fun I had reading this one! While I flipped through the magazine, I listened to a Gossip Girl-inspired playlist I created on my Spotify. It’s the perfect New York, it-girl playlist to make you feel as confident as Blair Waldorf!
Lunch at Ladurée
After spending the morning at home, it was time to get the day started! One of my favorite parts of the day was picking out an outfit that looked like it came from Blair’s closet! I am obsessed with this black tweed dress and pearl headband combination, and I think Blair would approve. I know she would definitely be in favor of stopping at Ladurée, which was the first stop of the day!
While I was busy being Blair for the day, Will took on the role of Chuck Bass and spent the day in the city with me! We ordered the garden gift box and filled it with our two favorite macaron flavors: pistachio and vanilla. I also ordered myself a hot vanilla latte, and everything was so good! It’s easy to see why Blair loved this place so much!
Central Park Stroll
After eating delicious macarons, it was time to head to Central Park! Now, feeding the ducks was one of Blair’s favorite things to do when she visited the park. However, it isn’t healthy for the ducks to feed them, so I was on a mission to just find ducks swimming around in the ponds. Sadly, Gossip Girl sent out a blast that it was too cold for the ducks to be swimming, so I ended up not seeing any.
While I didn't see any ducks, I did see some iconic locations featured in the show. The Bethesda Fountain is where Blair and Serena had their famous BFF photoshoot! The fountain is next to the Bethesda Terrace, which is where (spoiler alert ahead!) Blair and Chuck got married! Taking a walk through Central Park is something I will never take for granted, especially when it holds such a special place in my Gossip Girl heart.
A Stop at the Steps
Now, it wouldn’t be a real day in the life of Blair if I didn’t visit the most iconic steps in the entire world. The Met is truly one of my favorite places to visit, and there is nothing like sitting on the Met steps and feeling like you are the Queen of Constance Billard. I will say the steps get really crowded, so if you’re looking for a perfect photo, I would go around seven in the morning!
Shopping on Fifth Avenue
All of the walking around Central Park tired me out, but if there’s one thing Blair taught us, it’s that shopping cures everything! Window shopping down Fifth Avenue was one of my favorite parts of the day! Seeing all the displays with the most luxurious designer fashion pieces made me wish I could buy it all!
Of course, I made sure to stop at Bergdorf Goodman, and this was the exact location that was featured in season four of the show! After looking at all the shops, I decided to take a quick stop at the Palace Hotel, otherwise known as the Van Der Woodsen residence. While I didn’t see Serena walking around the courtyard, seeing this place in real life brought back some of my favorite memories from the show!
Drinks at The Campbell
Now, if you are a true Gossip Girl fan, you know how important and iconic Grand Central Station is. It is the place where the show opens up, and it's where we first meet Miss Serena herself. This place is absolutely gorgeous, and I can imagine all the fun trips Blair took in and out of the city using this station.
Inside Grand Central Station, I had reservations at The Campbell. The Campbell is where Serena notoriously danced across the bar in season one. My friend Hannah, who was my Serena for the night, and I had the most delicious drinks, and the atmosphere was incredible!
Dinner at Butter
After drinks, we ended the night at one of the most iconic restaurants in Gossip Girl history: Butter. An invite to Butter from Blair was the most valuable thing a girl at Constance could ask for, so it was only fitting to end my night there. Hannah and I shared the most delicious food and drinks here, so I would highly recommend getting a reservation here if you can!
After I finished dinner, I did a luxurious nighttime routine that Blair would love, and I snuggled up in bed to watch a Marilyn Monroe movie. I LOVED spending the day like Blair Waldorf, and I am so excited to continue this series! Make sure to comment on my YouTube video who you want to see me live like next!
