Spring Cleaning Routine

If your cleaning project seems to be too big to handle, ask yourself, “how do you eat a whale?”. The answer is one bite at a time. Dividing up your tasks and making a schedule will help keep your anxiety about a big task at bay.

Create a Routine

Making your own routine that works for you is key. Here is my cleaning routine to give you some ideas.

  1. Set the mood. I love listening to music or lighting a candle to give it the perfect cozy vibes to clean. Starting the way you can work best is essential and helps the whole process go smoother!

    • Turning on something to listen to in the background is one of the first things I do. My current favorite podcast is Back to the Barre or you can listen to my cleaning playlist here.

    • Nothing is better than a lit candle and a clean apartment. You can find my favorite candle here. If I’m not lighting a candle, I love my Pura diffuser for everyday use. I personally have two in my apartment (one in my living room and one near Elle’s litterbox). Some of my favorite scents are the Volcano and the Linen and Surf. They make my apartment smell AMAZING and I get so many compliments on how good my apartment smells!

2. Make a list of EVERYTHING you need to clean and divide it up into the specific room. I love actually writing down everything I want to do so I can check it off as I go and not leave anything out. Checking things off a list also makes me feel accomplished! Here is what your list could look like:

KITCHEN

  • Clean out the fridge and discard old food

  • Clear off counters and wipe them down

  • Clean stainless steel appliances

  • Refill coffee and ice maker water

  • Clean out microwave

  • Start dishwasher

    LIVING ROOM

  • Vacuum the couch and wash blanket(s)

  • Dust furniture

  • Clean glass table

  • Fluff pillows

    BEDROOM

  • Wash sheets and make the bed

  • Dust furniture

  • Put away anything that is out of place

    BATHROOM

  • Clean mirror

  • Wipe down surfaces

  • Clean toilet

  • Clean the shower + draino

  • Wash bath mats

  • Wash towels

  • Put away anything that is out of place

3. I usually leave vacuuming and mopping the floor for the last step of my whole apartment. To keep up with Elle’s cat fur and my day-to-day dirt, I love having my robot vacuum cleaner. It’s a vacuum cleaner and a mop that I can control all through an app and can run when I’m not at home. This vacuum makes it so convenient and easy to keep a clean home. I love getting home from class to a clean apartment, and it’s one of my favorite purchases!

Favorite Cleaning Products

These are some of my holy grail cleaning products and constant restocks!

This Mrs. Meyer’s cleaning set is amazing! Not only does it smell so good, but the all purpose cleaner is perfect for wiping down counters. The matching set also just makes me so happy and is a great way to reset my kitchen at night before winding down.

These pink microfiber cloths are amazing for cleaning. I love using them for wiping down my counters and desk. They are also great for cleaning glass and mirrors without leaving streaks!

I couldn’t help but include this adorable cat Scrub Mommy! As a cat mom myself, it is the cutest thing in my kitchen, but besides that, these are the best sponges I have tried. They are great at getting those tough, hard-to-clean spots on dishes. They are also scratch resistant, so I never have to worry about damaging any of my stuff.

This is the best glass cleaner, hands down. It is so great for all of my mirrors and windows, and I never have to worry about streaks! In my opinion, these are the types of products that make cleaning fun and something to look forward to.

Organization

Currently, I am DEEP organizing my apartment, since I am moving in June. If you are looking for some of the best things to organize your space, here are some of my faves.

These under-sink storage organizers are perfect for apartment living. In my apartment, every space matters and keeping it all organized is key. These are great for under the kitchen sink to keep cleaning products, garbage bags, etc. I use these in my bathroom and kitchen, and it makes these small spaces look so organized and helps me see what products I have.

These glass containers are the best food storage I have found. They are glass, so they are dishwasher and oven safe, making them amazing for meal prep and easy cleanup. And, of course, they are pink to match! They are also spill proof so I never have to worry about them leaking in my bag when I’m out.

If you have a Dyson Air Wrap, you know how hard it is to organize all the attachments. This is the best wall organizer I have found. It makes it so easy to see all of my attachments. I put this right next to my bathroom mirror, so I can have easy access when I need to use it!

Give me ALL the pretty cups and water bottles! I love being able to see all of my cups for easy access. This organizer makes it so easy to avoid reaching over everything in your cabinets. I can easily see everything, and I can grab one on the way to campus or a workout class. See all of my other organizing favorites here!

I hope y’all enjoyed this blog and got some inspiration for your own spring cleaning. I love having a clean space where everything is organized, and it helps me wind down after the long days! Happy cleaning!
