24 Hours in Disneyland
Going to California can only mean one thing: going to Disneyland! While Will and I were visiting for a different reason, we couldn't stop ourselves from spending a day at the happiest place on earth. From going on rides to trying delicious drinks and food, I wanted to recap how we spent 24 hours at Disneyland! If you’re looking for even more Disneyland content, head over to my YouTube channel, where I vlogged the entire day!
What We Did
Our top priority for the day was going on as many rides as possible. While Will is totally into roller coasters, I wanted to try some of the tamer rides, too. Our first ride of the day was the teacups, and let me tell you, we spun like crazy! After that, we went over to Space Mountain, which is so different from the one in Disney World. Will and I liked it better because it was so smooth and more of a thrill ride.
For those of you looking for a tamer ride, try out Nemo’s Submarine Voyage. Or if you want another thrilling ride, you have to go on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. You WILL get wet, but Will and I ranked this as one of the best rides of the entire day.
After spending the morning in Disneyland, we headed over to California Adventure! I knew Will was going to love this park because it had the Incredicoaster. I was getting nervous before we went on, but this was another top ride for us! We wanted to ride it again (it was painful to ride in the rain, and we wanted a redo), but unfortunately, it shut down because of the rain and didn’t open for the rest of the day.
After, we went on Soarin and then Toy Story Mania, where I destroyed Will and won by a million points. Toy Story Mania was probably in the top three rides of the day because it was so fun to compete with one another! Another honorable mention for best ride is Radiator Springs Racers in Cars Land!
One of the major highlights of our day was meeting characters! It was a LOT colder than Will and I expected, so we bought these matching Piglet and Winnie the Pooh sweaters, so meeting Winnie the Pooh was so fun! We also got to meet Pluto, and we saw so many other characters just roaming around the parks. While we couldn’t meet everyone, I’m glad we stopped to make some funny memories!
What We Ate
The first food item I knew we needed to try was a churro! So many of you recommended churros when I asked what Will and I should eat, and let me tell you, you guys did not disappoint. That churro was one of the yummiest treats we had all day! We also had to get the classic Mickey pretzel, another favorite of ours. However, THE best thing we ate all day was a turkey leg. Thinking about that turkey leg is making me drool, and it’s honestly one of the best things I’ve eaten in my life.
Will and I were lucky enough to be there during the Food and Wine Festival, and the drinks didn’t disappoint! One of my favorite drinks was the watermelon cucumber mojito, and Will was obsessed with the pickle whiskey sour (seriously, every pickle lover needs to try it!).
To end the night we had dinner at Splitsville, and we ate the most yummy loaded fries I’ve ever had. We also made sure to get some sweet treats for the ride back to our hotel. We got a caramel apple and a bunny rice krispie treat, and we were savoring every bite because they were SO good!
What We Loved
One of the best parts of the day was seeing the cutie little castle! Will made the joke that the castle looks like a room you stay in at Walt Disney World because it’s so much smaller, but if we’re being honest, Will and I agree that Disneyland is better than Walt Disney World. We loved the size of the park and felt like we did everything we wanted to do in just one day. Another favorite part of our day was our matching sweatshirts! From my Rapunzel ears to our cozy sweatshirts, the merch popped off, and I wanted to buy SO many cute things!
Something unique about Disneyland that I loved was how the characters roam around, and you’re able to meet them almost anywhere with no real line. I played Wendy in a high school production of Peter Pan, and I have been dying to meet him ever since, so this was a big moment for me! Will and I also met Winnie the Pooh and Pluto while walking around, and every interaction felt magical.
I talked about the Food and Wine Festival earlier in the blog, but it needs another mention because it was one of the best parts of our trip. Will and I loved looking in the little booklet you get that tells you everything each booth is serving. If we had more time, I’m sure Will and I would have been sampling as many food and drinks as possible, so I highly recommend going to Disneyland during the festival if you can!
What We Could Skip
While Will and I had THE best day ever, there were some things we weren’t obsessed with. So many people told us to ride Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, but we personally didn’t think it was worth it for the amount of time we had to wait in line. We also didn’t think Indiana Jones was as amazing as we’d been told. However, Will and I majorly disagree about the Guardians of the Galaxy ride. As someone who hates the feeling of falling, I will never go on this ride again. But Will LOVED it, and he is a big fan of rides.
Technically, this isn’t something you can always skip, but I would highly recommend changing the day you're going to Disney if it’s raining. So many of the rides shut down because of the rain, and it made an already cold day even colder. There were so many things we wished we could have done but the rain prevented us from doing them, so if you have a flexible schedule, try to avoid the rain at all costs.
As someone who has now been to Walt Disney World and Disneyland, I am officially making the call that Disneyland is better! Will and I couldn’t stop smiling the entire day, and there was just something truly magical about the parks. If you want to see even more of our day, remember to check out our Disneyland Vlog!
