Ice Skating Favorites

Ever since I was a little girl, I DREAMED about being a figure skater. One of my all-time favorite movies growing up was Ice Princess, and during my ice skating lessons, I feel like I'm living out my ice princess dreams! While I did take a break from lessons after my surgery, I am now back on the ice, and I LOVE it more than ever. Now that I'm back, I thought I would share my favorite ice skating products that make me feel comfortable, safe, and fabulous on the ice!

Butt Pads

Never in my life did I think I would be writing about butt pads, but here we are! My coach suggested getting butt pads to wear during practice, and I am so glad I took her advice. Surprisingly, they keep me warm (something I didn't expect), and they allow me to feel more confident learning new skills because I have the butt pad to fall back on (literally).

Fleece Gloves

One of the most important things during ice skating is staying warm, so I made sure to find the perfect pair of gloves. These pink fleece gloves keep my hands super warm and protect my hands from any falls. I typically start my warmups wearing them and then take them off because of how warm they make my hands!

Leg Warmers

I've tried a ton of different leg warmers for ice skating, but these are the best for keeping my legs warm AND staying around my boot. There is an elastic at the end of the leg warmer that prevents it from riding up and coming off your skate. Plus, these are super long (they can go over your knee!), which ensures maximum warmth!

Skirts

I am obsessed with my ice skating skirts, and these are my two favorites for the rink! I prefer the black option when I am using my butt pads (it makes them less obvious!), but for days when I'm doing skills I’m confident in, I love the baby pink! Both these skirts are very comfortable and allow you to move around nicely! They also flare out beautifully when spinning on the ice!

POPFLEX

If you're looking to spend a little extra money on attire, this POPFLEX skirt is what you're looking for! I adore the whole POPFLEX brand, and I love wearing their products for my ice skating lessons. Their skirts do run a little higher because of their quality, but the price tag is totally worth it!

Tights

Underneath my skirts, I typically wear a pair of tights (if you're skating in an outdoor rink or want a little more warmth, I recommend these tights!). The tights I wear are thick enough to keep me warm but not thick enough to restrict any of my movements. They're also super stretchy and comfortable!

LuluLemon Jacket

During my lessons, I love wearing a thinner coat like my LuluLemon jacket, as it allows my coach to see my body and adjust what needs to be fixed. I typically wear a long-sleeved shirt underneath the jacket for extra warmth! The color is the perfect shade of pink, and it truly makes me feel like an ice princess!

BÉIS Weekender

I had never bought anything from BÉIS, but I decided to upgrade my ice skating bag to their mini weekender, and I LOVE it! I am obsessed with the muted baby pink color and how it fits my ice skates, guards, gum chapstick, and everything else I need inside it! If you have never bought anything from BÉIS before, you can use the code EARLY25!

Skate Guards

You can get ice skate guards at any skating store, and they are definitely something you should prioritize getting ASAP if you just started skating. It is vital to keep your blades in great shape, and wearing skate guards on your blades whenever you are not on the ice (yes, even after putting your skates on to walk into the rink!) is one way to keep your skates in great shape!

Soakers

Soakers are another way to protect your blades by soaking up water and keeping them dry. They help keep out moisture and rust, which are two major things that can damage your blades. You can easily find soakers in a skating store, but I couldn't pass these up! I love the coquette vibe these have and how thick they are!

Headband

I don't like wearing hats or ear muffs while ice skating, so I found this headband that goes over my ears to keep them warm! The headband is super soft and not bulky, so it doesn't annoy me during practice. I chose this specific headband to match my jacket!

Chapstick

One of my favorite things to keep in my ice skating bag is chapstick! It's super dry and cold in the rink, and because I'm constantly moving around, there is a lot of wind and air hitting my lips. I always make sure to put some on before and after practice!

Water Bottle

Another must-have item in my ice skating bag is my water bottle! While my lessons aren't that long, I love being prepared and having water if I need it. Plus, ice skating in the city means a longer commute to class (subway, bus, walking), so I make sure to stay extra hydrated before and after class!

Whether you've just started skating or are a seasoned pro looking for new products, I hope this list was helpful and gives you some of your new favorite ice skating products! If you're interested in learning more about my ice skating journey, check out my videos on YouTube!
