Meet Lemon: Our New Kitty

What's better than one city kitty? TWO city kitties! Welcome the newest member of our household: Lemon! Will and I have wanted to get Elle a sister for quite some time, but it never felt right. Elle was sick with FIP, and then we were denied an application we put in for a kitten a couple months ago. However, everything always works out perfectly, and we were blessed with our cute little Lemon! If you're interested in watching the process of getting Lemon, check out the vlog where I filmed everything, from picking her up to taking her home!

Finding Lemon

As I said earlier, Will and I have been interested in getting a kitten for a long time. I knew I wanted to get another ragdoll because I love everything about Elle. She has the best personality of any cat I've ever met, and another ragdoll would perfectly match the vibe Elle has already created in our household. When it came time to finally put in an application, I knew I wanted to get a kitten from Pearl's Ragdolls. Pearl posts tons of videos of her kittens on TikTok, so I loved watching all her videos and seeing little Lemon grow! Will and I found out the day we moved into our new apartment that we were approved to adopt Lemon, and it felt like everything had worked out in perfect time!

One of the best parts about getting Lemon was flying all the way to Texas to get her! While I was there, I got to see my best friend Madi (of course, I vlogged the whole trip)! While Madi and I had a blast, I had butterflies every day leading up to adoption day! I had been preparing to get Lemon for weeks, and I bought her so many lemon-themed products! I couldn't believe that I was finally going to meet my new city kitty! One of my favorite things I got Lemon was her lemon blanket, which Elle had been sleeping on for weeks (so I think she was eager for her new sister, too!).

Love at First Sight

When I got to Pearl's house, I was in ragdoll heaven. All of Lemon's brothers and sisters were climbing all over me and Lemon's pink carrier, and it was one of the cutest things I've ever seen. Lemon walked straight into her carrier and snuggled up to her baby blanket, which made my heart explode. She was also obsessed with the lemon toys I got from Target! Right after picking her up, I went straight to the airport to take her home to the city! Will wasn’t able to get off of work, so I was SO excited to get home and reunite her with Will and Elle!

When I got back to the apartment, I left Lemon in her carrier and let Elle sniff out the situation. After some interaction, I placed Lemon in the bathroom with her old blanket and toys to help her acclimate to the new environment. She is truly one of the most vocal kittens I have ever met, and every time I walked into the bathroom, she met me with a big meow! When Will got home, she literally fell in love with him right away. When he was holding her in his arms, she started making biscuits on his sweater! We decided together that it was best for Elle to officially meet Lemon that night so she wasn't stressed about a new cat living in the bathroom. While Lemon did spend the night in the bathroom to be safe, Elle was more relaxed after she spent some time with her in the living room.

The first night Lemon slept in our bedroom was Friday! While Elle was a little territorial in the beginning, she slowly warmed up to her new sister. Baby Elle has always been such an independent cat, and Lemon is the complete opposite. She is always following me around and trying to get in my lap or get her pets in. She is one of the sweetest little kittens, and she always has to be where Will and I are. As you can see in the picture above, she also always wants to be where Elle is! There are some moments when Elle wants to be alone, but she definitely has a soft spot for her baby sister.

This is one of the cutest blogs I have ever written, and I hope Lemon's little face brightens up your day! If you want to see more of how I prepared for Lemon's arrival, check out my vlog where Elle and I go shopping for her!
